Appcar diagfca cracked12/31/2022 Either try to remove the bulb (I thinks its LED soldered into the board) or find the wire to it and cut it. If you really want to disable the system, I think the best strategy would be to try to just kill the light on the dash. You could try it, but if I'm correct, you'll waste time and money attempting this tricking of the system that doesn't work. So likely removing just some of the system will result in that TPMS light always being lit.įaking the system with sensors mounted near the receivers, keeping them pressurized would be a challenge, BUT, I think the sensors also sense or use tire rotation to trigger them on and off, if that is correct, then mounting the sensors in anything but the tire will result in TPMS light being always lit. So you can't tear the whole thing out without losing other wireless communication, like the remote on the key fob or possibly even the ignition switch, since both key systems on the Commander use wireless communications whether its a Transponder Chip or a RFID chip. The TPMS system is part of the wireless communication system. All a guess, I could be very wrong.ĭisabling the TPMS system or changing the low pressure warning trigger pressure? Thus, I'm also guessing, Commanders with the Premium TPMS system, do monitor the spare tire, and thus have 4 proximity sensors. So I'm guessing Commanders with the base TPMS system don't monitor the spare tire, and only have 3 proximity sensors. So does the Base system NOT read the Spare at all, or does the Base system NOT set a warning for the spare if the sensor is missing? I don't know, but it seems rather pointless to include the spare in the TPMS system if its NOT going to light a warning for a missing sensor. The spare they built up from an ordered steel wheel and OEM tire in stock had just a rubber valve stem, no TPMS sensor. I'm a outlier on this subject, my Commander was missing the spare when I bought it, but the Dealer provided me a spare tire when I complained. So its possible the base system doesn't read the Spare, and thus works perfectly fine with 3 proximity sensors, the Premium does read the spare and thus requires 4 proximity sensors to do so properly. The base is just the warning light nothing else, the Premium has readout for each tire in the EVIC as well as the warning light. So how does the Spare Tire warning work? I'm NOT sure, and keep in mind the Commander came with two different TPMS systems, a Premium and Base system. That would make sense of a lot posts I see that seem to conflict about the Spare Tire being read by the TPMS system. They do it with 3 proximity receivers, because for 4 tires, once you've determined the location of 3 of them, then the 4th must be in the location without a proximity sensor.ĭoes the Premium TPMS system read the spare?ĭoes the Base TPMS system NOT read the spare? I don't know for a fact, but I think vjsimone is correct.
